On her marriage certificate, Teresa Mangilli declared that she was illiterate, and she signed the certificate with an “X”.

Records of Gordevio show that Pietro moved his family from Vogorno, Switzerland in Valle Verzascha to Gordevio, Switzerland in about 1862, approximately the same year that his younger brother, Giuseppe Barnaba Morelli arrived from Lierna, Italy. Pietro’s 4th child, Giuseppe Antonio, was born in Gordevio about 6 months before the birth of Giuseppe Barnaba’s first child, Carlo Franceso, in January 1864. Pietro’s son died in Gordevio at the age of 4, probably from diphtheria. Pietro and his family returned to his birthplace, Lierna, Italy, probably before 1874, the year his younger brother left for the USA. We know his wife, Teresa, died in Lierna on January 5, 1877.
