Notes for Tommaso Bartolomeo (Spouse 1)
Painting by Giovanni Antonio Vanoni, 1870.
The four sons of Tommaso may have studied at Collegio Papio in Ascona. In 1852, all four of them emigrated to England where they learned the printing trade at the London Times and were influential in developing new printing techniques. Enrico and Antonio eventually returned to Switzerland, but the other two boys (Bartolomeo & Giacomo) stayed in London. Bartolomeo Giovanni had 17 children, and his descendents are still living in England. The Dellegana brothers who settled in London paid for the marble church floor in Aurigeno - they sent the money via their brother, Enrico Alberico, to pay for it. Their inscriptions are in the middle of the marble mosaic.
