Notes for Battista SPADINI
Battista Spadini first came to the United States in 1877 at the age of 27, one year after the death of his first wife. He married his second wife, Margherita Vanoni, in Petaluma, California, and both of their children were born in San Francisco. He settled in Valley Ford near his wife’s aunt, Giuditta Pozzi. He operated a store in Valley Ford and he became a United States citizen. The store burned down in 1900. He and his wife later returned to Switzerland. According to the records at Ellis Island, during his last trip to the United States in 1906, he stated that he had enterd the United States in 1877 and again in 1899. He stated that he was headed to his home in Inverness, California.
